RACE FORMAT
The course and length will be confirmed on the Saturday dependent on water levels and safety. The Heats format will run from the top of the rapid through to the bottom of the wave train. Suitable for Juniors and Beginners through to advanced paddlers.
King of the Fling is race designed to get everyone in to extreme racing. Its short and exciting, in Sprint format - the race is designed for safety and sprint racing allowing everyone a taste and practice for the bigger races.
There will be free race clinics on the Saturday before race day, so you can practice the lines, learn from the best and get race advice. Learn from some of Australias' top paddlers, from Down river to extreme racing.
The Race will be in head to head format, with the top competitors moving through to the next rounds. We will have safety in place for the race, and in true race format, all competitors will be required to wait at the bottom for the next 2 rounds to complete the race before exiting the river.
Race categories will be offered in plastic kayak less than 2.9m, packraft, open and junior. All categories must have 3 or more entrants to be considered a class ( to be eligible for the title)
Race Schedule:
SATURDAY
BBQ dinner and Party - 6pm @ Venue WAbonga Campground
Party games involved, fire, food and lots of fun
SUNDAY
RACE BRIEFING 9.30 am William Hovell Car Park
Race Start Sprints 10am - head to head format.
Final Sprints 11.30am
Race start head to head - 12.30pm
Presentation and Award Ceremony - 2pm ( or as close to race finish as possible) at the carpark.
Prizes
Prizes will still be offered including Vaikobi gear, and Various Prizes from Liquidlife, Jackson kayaks, Bax Gear, Kokotat and more.
