RUBICON RIVER - LOWER SECTION

The lower section below the lower Rubicon Power station is a gem.

Great grade 2 paddle with a couple larger grade 2 rapids and 2 low-head dams which are paddle-able at around 0.9m on the guage. The river was fairly clear with one log across the river near to the put-in ( but you can paddle over it at this level), and then nothing until you reach the section about 500m by river from the Thornton rd. There are a couple of log jams you need to get around but regardless a really really enjoyable day out. Well worth the paddle
