Granite Flat to Mitta Mitta

Put in Granite Flat Bridge off the Omeo Highway above Mitta Mitta. the turn off is to the left hand side approx 15km from town.

Great little river ( creek) with heaps of surfing waves, good wave trains, and a few nice drops. The first section takes about 40 min and is quite clean.

The first bigger rapid is the guage rapid, with a fairly straight forward chute in teh center. Easy to portage back up and run it again if you want, and good spot for photo shoots, as its right next to the road.

Following this rapid there is another smaller one straight after and then its about 500m before you start to enter the narrower more gorge like section. This section boasts 2-3 larger drops whcih are around 2m in height and quite easy to boat-scout. Great run for beginners looking to get on to a bit bigger water.

From the gorge to the finish is about 30min through some gravel races and wave trains. Finish at the Mitta Pub, above the weir. The entire run is about 14km, and at levels around 1.4 the rapids are clean and defined.

The gorge section would be a calls 2+ to 3 at higher water levels. Gradient: 6mts / km
